Get an email when your node goes offline
When one of your nodes stops checking in for 15 minutes for a reason on your side, you'll get an email, and another once it's back. Outages caused by us are filtered out, and you can turn the emails off in Settings.
A node that goes quiet, because the machine went to sleep, lost power, changed networks or stopped its service, stops earning Active Node Hours, and until now nothing told you. You’ll now get an email when that happens.
Update: sending began on 4 October 2026, not on the date of this entry. See Node offline emails are now actually being sent.
The Node alerts setting is in Settings.
When you’ll hear from us
- Down: when a node has been offline for 15 minutes. If several of your nodes drop, one email lists them all, and you get at most one of these every 6 hours.
- Still down: one reminder, 24 hours into the outage.
- Back online: once the node has checked in steadily for 10 minutes, if you were told it was down.
A node needs to have been online for at least an hour before it dropped. Each email links to the Node Shows Offline guide.
When you won’t
We don’t email you about outages that are ours: a restart or update of our own systems, errors on our side when your node checked in, or a drop across the whole network. When many nodes in one area drop together, which usually means a local power cut or internet outage you already know about, we wait an hour and email only if your node is still down.
Turning them off
Each email has its own link to stop node alerts. It doesn’t affect any other email from us. You can turn them back on, or off, in Settings.
