A public status page at status.evolvingedge.ai

AddedCDNPortal

You can now see whether our services are up at status.evolvingedge.ai. It checks the control plane, the portal, sign-in and our own sites every minute, and the changelog shows live status badges above its entries.

There is now a public status page at status.evolvingedge.ai. If a deploy fails, the portal won’t load or a site is slow, you can check there first to see whether the problem is on our side.

What it shows

Each of these is checked once a minute, and the page shows its current state and its history:

  • Control Plane: the service that deploys go through, that gateways ask which site a domain belongs to, and that nodes check in with.
  • Portal: portal.3dge.app.
  • Sign-in: the service behind logging in to the portal and the API.
  • Our own sites: evolvingedge.ai, the docs, the blog and this changelog. They are served by the same network as customer sites, so they also show whether sites are being delivered.

The history starts on 4 October, when the page went live.

Status badges on the changelog

The changelog’s front page now shows three live badges above the entries: Control Plane, Portal and Sign-in. Each shows the current state straight from the status page, and clicking one takes you there.

The status page is also linked from the Resources menu and the footer of evolvingedge.ai.

Why now

On 3 October two outages went unnoticed for longer than they should have, because nothing outside the control plane was watching it. See Two outages on 3 October, their causes and the fixes. The status page runs on a machine separate from the services it checks, so it keeps reporting when they are down.

What it can’t tell you

  • Problems shorter than a minute can fall between two checks and not appear.
  • It checks from one location, so a problem that only affects some regions or networks may not show.
  • It doesn’t check your site. It shows whether our services and our own sites are up, which is a good sign for yours but not a test of it.

What you need to do

Nothing. Bookmark it if you run a node or host a site with us.
