Level 1 sites open from their share link, images included
TL;DR: A Level 1 site deployed from the portal without its own domain couldn't be opened from its share link. The link now opens the site, and its images load on first and return visits. Links handed out without the trailing slash still work.
If you deployed a Level 1 site from the portal without a domain of its own, the share link the portal gave you didn’t open it: the gateway refused the page. The other address the portal showed couldn’t display the site either, because it had no key. Now the share link opens your site, and its images load on the first visit and on every visit after.
What changes
- The share link opens your site. The share link and the address the portal shows now end in
/ee/<hash>/. The portal notes that the address opens only with the key from the share link. - The address that couldn’t work is gone. For Level 1 sites, the portal no longer shows the old address that could never display them.
- Links you have already shared still work. A link without the slash after the hash is sent on to the one with it, and keeps its key.
- Images load on first and return visits, including when the visitor’s browser has stopped the background worker that decrypts them.
What your visitors notice
- A first visit reloads the page once, after the key is set, so its images can be decrypted.
- A page opened without a key doesn’t wait for one. It carries on loading as before.
What you need to do
Nothing. You don’t need to deploy again, and links you’ve already shared keep working.
