Level 1 sites now decrypt when served by a standalone edge node

FixedCDNEdge Nodev0.0.107

A node installed as a standalone program didn't serve the scripts a Level 1 site needs to decrypt in the browser, so the page loaded but stayed encrypted, with no error. From v0.0.107 those scripts are built into the node.

A Level 1 site is decrypted in the visitor’s browser, by scripts that the node serving the site hands out alongside it. An edge node installed as a standalone program, rather than run from our Docker image, didn’t have those scripts to hand out. A Level 1 site on a domain assigned to such a node loaded, but its content stayed encrypted, and nothing reported an error to the visitor, the site’s owner or the operator.

From v0.0.107 the scripts are built into the edge node itself, so a standalone node serves them like any other.

Docker nodes and our gateways were never affected. They already carried the scripts, and still pick up newer versions of them without waiting for a node release.

What you need to do

  • Operators running a standalone node: update to v0.0.107 or later.
  • Customers: nothing. Your site and its addresses don’t change.
