Installing the edge node on Windows now works end to end
The Windows installer failed to download the edge node, and beyond that registered a service that couldn't start while still reporting success. Installing, starting and uninstalling now all work, and failures are reported as failures.
Installing on Windows was broken at more than one step:
- The download failed with
Release not found, so the installer stopped before doing anything. - Past that, it registered the Windows service against a path where the binary had never been written. The service couldn’t start — but the installer printed setup complete and exited successfully anyway.
- A node that was running correctly could be reported as failed, and uninstalling could hang or stop halfway.
All of these are fixed. The binary now lives under
%USERPROFILE%\.ee-cdn\bin, matching Linux and macOS, which also means
uninstalling removes it — previously it was left behind. Any step that fails now
stops the installer with an error instead of reporting success.
If you installed on Windows before and your node never came online, run the installer again. You’ll get v0.0.98, and it will tell you plainly if anything goes wrong.
